Jets (and prospective Jets) @ World Championship games:
Team USA takes on France. Kyle Connor missed the last game so we will have to wait and see if he suits up today. (Update: Kyle Connor played but did not finish with any points in a 4-0 win for the Americans. He played a shade under nine minutes and had just one shot)
Russia vs. Denmark. Which means we have a Burmistrov vs. Ehlers match up. (Update: Both players picked up an assist in the 10-1 Russian shellacking of Denmark).
Canada vs. Germany. Might Mark Scheifele keep up his hitting ways? (Update: Scheifele was out as per Ryan Rishaug of TSN. Canada won 5-2).
Jets news:
USA Today: The great No.1 debate — Auston Matthews or Patrik Laine? I suspect we are going to be reading about this debate until Buffalo.
Winnipeg Sun: Scheifele enjoying World stage. Plenty of notice for the young Jets centre as he makes an impression over in Russia and could use this as a springboard for a shot with Team North America in the World Cup. Ken caught up with him for this article.
TSN: Laine sets record as Finland beats Hungary. The projected second overall pick is certainly continuing to make a name for himself as he attempts to close the gap on first overall.
Jets audio:
TSN 1290 Winnipeg: Hustler and Lawless. Hockey insider Darren Dreger joins Hustler & Lawless from the 2016 IIHF World Hockey Championship in St Petersberg, Russia. Dreger discusses how the play of Austen Matthews and Patrik Laine are affecting their draft stock, and warns to keep an eye on Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen, who could trade up to get one of either Laine or Puljujarvi in a win-win proposition.
