Jets (and prospective Jets) @ World Championship games:

The potentially Marko Dano-less Slovaks will be facing Belarus today.  (Update – Marko Dano played and added one assist in the 4-2 loss to Belarus).

Patrik Laine and Team Finland have a contest against Hungary as he looks to rebound from his worst game so far.  (Update – Laine picked up an assist in the 3-0 Finnish win.  The Finns took 51 shots against goalie Adam Vay including six from Laine).

Jets news:

Toronto Sun:  Debating whether Matthews or Laine is top prospect depends on team drafting them.  Fans really feeling fortunate that they are part of this conversation as they win, regardless of who gets chosen first.

Sportsnet:  Watch out for the 5 teams with extra Round 1 draft picks.  Jets have some potential currency courtesy of the trade that saw former captain Andrew Ladd become a member of the Chicago Blackhawks.

Newsday:  Islanders’ Travis Hamonic rescinds trade request.  Many Jets fans had the Manitoba product wearing a Winnipeg uniform but that won’t be happening as it appears the situation has stabilized and he will be remaining in NY.

Hockey’s Future:  Connor’s strong NCAA season a springboard to NHL career.  With all the excitement fans have for the 2016 draft they may want to remember that Winnipeg has an exciting pick from 2015 coming into the fold.
