Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets news.

Note: When you wake up and think did the Jets lose Bryan Little to end the second, overcome a 4-1 third period deficit and see coach Maurice get ejected before losing 6-5 in a shootout?  Of course the answer is yes and in case you missed it we summed up the festivities here.  The Jets have an off day today so we may not get an update on Little until Saturday.

Note II:  The Moose are looking to build on their success from Wednesday’s 10:30 am game which they won 5-2 on the strength of Patrice Cormier’s three goal performance.  They will have a re-match tonight in Rockford against the IceHogs with a 7 pm puck drop at BMO Harris Bank Center.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  You were saying something about blame, coach?  It must be something with the name Paul and I’m not talking about the coach.   This Paul narrows his focus to the Jets bench boss.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets short on paper, passion.  Paul isn’t one to hold back and he certainly didn’t with his latest column.

Winnipeg Sun:  NHL won’t meet with Stralman over hit.  Not surprisingly both sides see this completely differently.  However appears the ultimate decider of fact (the NHL) will not be delving into this any further.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Colossal comeback falls short. (Paywall).  Tim’s recap includes news about Little, whether Stralman’s hit was legal, proud of effort and the bad news.

Little down and out

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets channeled anger into fire that may serve in games ahead. (Paywall).  Last year the Jets used a game in Tampa as a catalyst.  Might we see Lightning strike once again?

Winnipeg Free Press:  Would the Jets benefit from tanking? (Paywall).  In this episode of “White Noise” Free Press sports reporters Ed Tait and Paul Wiecek talk about whether the Jets should be “tanking”.  (goes for about eight minutes).

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets ‘played like men:’ Maurice.  The Jets bench boss was remarkably calm (guess it was good he had the 3rd period to cool off) when answering post-game questions from media.  But it was clear that he was happy with the effort of his squad.

CBC:  Maurice’s emotional display no accident.  You don’t get to 546 wins in the NHL by accident.

TBO.com:  Bolts battle back after losing early lead to Jets.  Read about the game from a Lightning beat writer.

TSN:  Will the Jets deal Andrew Ladd?  (Video).  Will Winnipeg keep its captain Andrew Ladd? TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger looks at what the Jets could fetch for Ladd and their other potential trade chips.

Sportsnet:  Why the Jets should trade Andrew Ladd rather than sign him.  Making the case for why the Jets would be better off dealing their captain before the trade deadline.

ESPN:  Buyers and sellers in the Central Division.  Jets listed as sellers.  Usual Ladd talk with some of the possible spots he could end up.
