Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets news.

Note:  The Jets played in St. Paul for their one road game in a ten game block last night.  The team pulled off a gutsy 1-0 win in the game two of a back to back.  The team has the day off today before returning to practice on Sunday morning at the MTS Centre.

Note II:  The Moose kick off their first game of an eight game road trip tonight at 7 pm in Raleigh as they take on the Charlotte Checkers at Bojangles’ Coliseum.  You can listen to the call on Moose.com.

Note III:  Tune in at 9 am to the Illegal Curve Hockey Show as the guys recap the Jets/Wild game and takes a look around the NHL.  Guests:  Drew Spevak (BSN Denver writer covering Avalanche).  Anson Carter (Analyst on NBC, former NHLer).  Dave Isaac (Courier Post writer covering Flyers).

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Dane dynamic once again.  (Paywall).  He has two (nice) goals in his last three games and he seems to have rediscovered his creativity.  While he still sometimes tries a junior trick or two it is clear that his coach is trusting him more and more as the season progresses.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Tired Jets gut out big win.  (Paywall).  It truly was an impressive performance by a team that desperately needed a clean two points against a central division opponent.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets gut out 1-0 win over Wild despite playing with makeshift lineup.  They began the night nine points back of Minnesota but managed to narrow that to seven with the victory.  They are also closer to Colorado and Nashville (coincidentally the two teams they play next).  Perhaps, similar to last season, the adversity is what this team needed to turn around their fortunes.

Sportsnet:  Hellebuyck makes 24 saves, Jets shut out Wild.  The rookie netminder has now won 11 NHL games and posted two shutouts since being called up by the Moose.  His save % now sits at .931 (4th in NHL) with a GAA of 2.00 (3rd in NHL).

CBC:  Cheveldayoff’s big gamble with Byfuglien.  Never really pegged the Jets GM as a gambling man.  Interesting column on the potential scenarios for the way this Byfuglien situation could end up.

Minneapolis Star Tribune:  Wheeler helps extend Wild’s home misery vs. lesser teams.  The local boy struck again. Read about the game from an opposition beat writer.
