Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets and Moose news.

Note:  The Illegal Curve Hockey Show comes to you from 2 pm until 5 pm this afternoon on TSN 1290 Winnipeg as the guys reflect on the Jets 5-2 win over the Rangers, look ahead to the road trip out to Alberta and take a gander around the rest of the NHL.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Leaders lead way to win.  (Paywall).  In order to win your best players have to be your best players and last night for the most part that is what we saw.

Winnipeg Free Press: Big line busts out with nine points.  (Paywall).  It was exactly the type of game that this Jets team needed to get that “good feeling” back in the room.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets strike early, down Rangers.  When it became a 3-2 game this had a bit of a Déjà vu feeling considering the game the other night against the Blues.  However the Jets managed to maintain their lead and then padded it on a nice offensive play by Tyler Myers which ended with this laser beam which beat Henrik Lundqvist.

Winnipeg Sun:  Captain Andrew Ladd’s penalties draw coach’s attention.  Neither the captain nor the coach wanted to discuss the move following the game but you have to think (and Jets fans have to hope) that the message has been sent to this team.

CBC:  Ladd’s demotion underlines Jets depth issues.  Plenty to digest in this column on the discipline issues and what it says about the depth on this team.

NHL.com:  Little, Wheeler lead Winnipeg Jets to 5-2 win over N.Y. Rangers.  In a game that many were saying was a must win for this Jets team these two really showed up to play a full 60 minutes on Friday night.  Also thought the other lines, including the reconstructed 4th line, played well overall.

New York Daily News:  Derick Brassard’s line struggles as Rangers fall to Jets 5-2.  Read about the game from an opposition beat writer.

Illegal Curve:  Chris Thorburn becomes the all time franchise games played leader.  He eclipsed the mark previously held by Ilya Kovalchuk.  The post includes the video the Jets played last night at the MTS Centre to commemorate the achievement.
