Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets news.

Note:  The Jets now have a two game winning streak and will try to end the three game home stand with a win over the visiting Colorado Avalanche who are playing the final game of a seven game road trip (they have three wins and three losses on the road so far).  We will be covering the game and as always stay tuned to illegalcurve.com and on social media including Twitter | Facebook | Instagram for pre and post game news.

Note II:  We begin a new weekly Monday feature today on illegalcurve.com entitled The Monday Manitoba Moose Report.  Our Moose reporter Peter Siamandas goes one on one with head coach Keith McCambridge and Nic Petan.  He also provides some insight into Jiri Fronk, news about the return of Thomas Raffl and ends with Moose year to date stats.  You can get that Report here.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets call up Hellebuyck after Pavelec injured by Doan hit.  While fans were hoping for some clarity from the Jets bench boss on Sunday morning he didn’t have an update on the status of the Jets goalie.  Expect that information sometime today and be sure to keep it locked here when it breaks.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets call up Hellebuyck.  Fans have been clamouring to see the prized goalie prospect in the NHL for some time and if Ondrej Pavelec is out then they should get their chance sometime this week.

Denver Post:  Semyon Varlamov “might be ready” vs. Jets.  Get to know about the Jets opponent tonight from the team beat writer.

New York Post:  Brooks Sunday Column.  Half way down the page you can read the Hamonic/Jets talk.  The interesting comment is “Byfuglien is not staying in Winnipeg”.  While I’m not sure I agree with that sentiment Larry Brooks suggests as much in his column.

Ottawa Sun:  Garrioch’s Sunday Column.  Begins with Hamonic trade info which should be interesting for Jets fans considering Winnipeg is one possible destination.  In his Rumours Du Jour section he talks about the Jets shopping Enstrom and also about signing Byfuglien.

Jets audio:

Illegal Curve:  Coach Maurice scrum.  Status of Pavelec.  More pressure on Hutchinson?  Any concerns with the way Pavelec got hurt?  Talk about Pavelec on crutches.  On Hellebuyck.  Advantage of having the Moose down the road.  Planning on using Hellebuyck?  Confidence of the goalies.

Illegal Curve:  Jets Practice Report.  Couple of notes from the skate at the IcePlex yesterday as well as audio from Andrew Ladd, Michael Hutchinson and Connor Hellebuyck.

Moose news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Comrie comes up big for Moose.  It is a big opportunity for the young goalie.

Illegal Curve:  Moose split weekend series against Condors with a win on Sunday.  Our recap includes key plays of the game, forward line combinations, top 3 Moose, injury notes and post-game audio (Thomas Raffl, Eric Comrie and Head Coach Keith McCambridge).

Illegal Curve:  Moose recall Jussi Olkinuora from Oilers.  With the promotion of Hellebuyck to the NHL the opportunity in the AHL just got bigger for Eric Comrie and Jussi Olkinuora who got the call up from Tulsa.
