Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets news.

Note:  No rest for the wicked as the Jets took off for St. Louis following a huge 2-0 win over the Wild last night.  Be sure to keep it locked to @illegalcurve for the latest Jets news before and after the game.

Games of significance last night:  Kings lost (SO).  Canucks won (SO).

Games of significance tonight:  Wild (@ Hawks). Flames (vs. Coyotes).  Kings (@ Oilers).

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Pavelec’s performance one of several factors as Jets push for playoff spot.  Missed this article from Ed but he looks at five takeaways from last night’s game including: 1) Pavelec still getting no love 2) coach chat at 4:30 pm 3) Ben Chiarot’s game 4) Remaining even keel and 5) #JetsArmy.

ESPN:  Pucks Central – Just a Thought.  Jets getting some attention from some of the ESPN analysts.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Clever Jets turning the other cheek.  Who are these masked Jets?  Not taking penalties that they may have taken a month ago.  Showing discipline when it is needed.  They keep this up they just may make a playoff run in less than a week.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Some sick goaltending: Pavs almost too good to be true, despite flu.  If this is the way he plays when he is sick the Jets may want to keep him in this state for another four days.  He was excellent in the win which seemed reminiscent of the 1-0 win over Dallas that he stole for the Jets.  Ed also writes about the big start, bigger finish as well as two d-men down, two step up.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Pavelec’s perfection pushes team closer to playoffs.  Gary writes about the turnaround we have seen in the play of the guy who has returned to being the number one goalie in town.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets fans flock to St. Louis.  That is a pretty cool way to take in a really important Jets game in Missouri.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets blank Wild.  Ken with a long read about the huge victory the Jets achieved in St. Paul last night.

Minneapolis Star-Tribune:  With 2-0 win by rival Jets, Wild can’t clinch playoff spot, lose some cushion in process.  Lots to read from the other side as Wild beat writer Michael Russo breaks down the Minnesota loss.

CBC:  Jets blank Wild to boost playoff hopes.  Another game breakdown.

Jets 2 Wild 0:

Illegal Curve:  Coach Maurice post-game (audio).  What stood out for him?  First power play a result of the team showing discipline.  What did they do so well in front of Pavelec?  How close was that (execution wise) to what he had drawn up?  How does the win tonight position them for tomorrow?  Thoughts on his goalie for tomorrow night?  The sacrifice of guys blocking shots.  Getting over the disappointment of the Chicago/New York game and being able to respond.

Jets prospect news:

Hockey’s Futures:  Some Winnipeg Jets late-round picks thriving in NCAA and Europe.  Always good to get caught up with Jets prospects.

The Chronicle Herald:  Mooseheads forward Ehlers cleared to play Game 7.  The Jets 2014 top pick will be able to play in the critical game.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Rona Roundtable.  Willy Palov of the Halifax Chronicle Herald discusses the penalties Nikolaj Ehlers received for verbal abuse of an official.
