Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets news.

Note:  The Jets return to the ice today in Missouri as they get prepared for a date with the Blues in St. Louis tomorrow night.

Games of significance last night:  Wild lost.  Flames lost (SO).  Blackhawks lost (OT).

Games of significance tonight:  Canucks (vs. Ducks).  Sharks (vs. Penguins).

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  If the glove fits….  Coach Maurice has gone out of his way to not declare a number one goalie this season although it is pretty clear that the guy who starts six straight when the other goalie is healthy enough to play equals being the starting goalie.  Of course I suspect if Gary asks him in his scrum we are still going to get “it’s nice having two number one goalies“.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets pivots pick up the slack.  Every time a critical piece of the puzzle has gone missing from the lineup the rest of the team has picked up the slack.  For the push for the playoffs to continue the team is going to need more of the same from Lowry, Scheifele, Slater and O’Dell.

Winnipeg Sun:  Impressive season continues for Jets’ Michael Hutchinson.  While some folks seem amazed at the rookie netminder’s resiliency his coach doesn’t seem as surprised.  He credits the work ethic Hutchinson has displayed in practice as part of his path to success and how he has been able to bounce back after a poor performance.

Illegal Curve:  Are we about to see the re-birth of the Manitoba Moose 2.0?  In case you missed it over the weekend the talk around town was a possible return of the AHL to Winnipeg.

Jets prospect news:

The Chronicle Herald:  Screaming Eagles edge Mooseheads.  Despite a four point night (three goals) from Jets prospect Nikolaj Ehlers it wasn’t enough to win the game for his team on Sunday.  In 46 games this season with Halifax the Jets 2014 1st round pick has 35 goals 59 assists for 94 points.
