Note:  Second game of the Jets home stand goes tonight at the MTS Centre as the Jets hope to avoid singing the blues as they take on St. Louis.

Standings watch:  Flames won.  Winnipeg currently sits 6th in the Western Conference.  They are in the first Wild card spot three up on Calgary (1 game in hand) and four points up on Minnesota (2 games in hand).  Sportsclubstats currently has Jets playoff chances at 61.5%.

Teams of significance playing tonight: Canucks. Hawks.  Wild. Kings. Sharks.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Little fanfare for milestone goal.  Now he just needs 183 to overtake Ilya Kovalchuk for all time franchise leader in goals.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets beef up on rental market.  So much for waiting until the trade deadline on Monday as Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff got his team some immediate forward help with this latest addition.

Canes Tlusty vs. Jets

Winnipeg Sun:  Chevy to Jets: We’re all-in.  Cheveldayoff has quieted his critics with a flurry of moves of late.  He is the reluctant GM no longer writes Paul.

Winnipeg Sun:  Girl overjoyed by fame from ‘Chemo by day, Jets by night’ sign.  There was no question who the first star of the game was on Tuesday.  Very classy move by players as well as fans giving the courageous young lady the applause that they did.

News and Observer:  Canes trade Sekera to Kings, Tlusty to Jets.  Head over to Carolina to read what team beat writer Chip Alexander had to say about the trade from someone who covers the Hurricanes.  On Tuesday when the topic of being traded came up Tlusty did tell the media “If I fit in their plan and they try to come back to me July 1, I will have interest in talking to Carolina,”.

ESPN:  Jets increase playoff odds by adding Jiri Tlusty.  Scott Burnside feels the Jets made a smart move on Wednesday to help the team with their chances of playing meaningful hockey in April.

TSN:  Jets find a bargain with acquisition of Tlusty.  Scott Cullen looks at the trade and thinks the Jets did pretty well with the trade.

Metro News:  Jets have bargaining chips but Burmistrov shouldn’t be one of them.  Hustler makes the argument to keep Burmistrov within the fold and see what coach Maurice could do with him next season.

Illegal Curve:  Wheeler to miss tonight’s game.  With all the excitement in Jetsville about the newest acquisition many Jets fans have glazed over the fact that the team will be without top winger Blake Wheeler for the second consecutive game.  Winnipeg put him on IR retroactive to last Sunday.
