Note:  It may not have been a happy New Years Eve for the Jets as they fell 5-2 to the Islanders but hopefully all of you enjoyed your evening.  Plenty of Jets news as you kick start New Years Day.   The Jets are off the ice until Friday when they resume practicing in anticipation of a Saturday night contest against the Leafs as they try to avoid a three game losing streak.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press: Islanders down Jets 5-2.  Aside from the special teams, the Jets couldn’t fire much past Jaroslav Halak as he helped lead his team to a big road win.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets fall to Islanders.  The Jets ended 2014 in a tough manner and Ken breaks down the loss from top to bottom.

Winnipeg Sun:  Tavares befriends heckled Winnipeg fan.   Classy move by the Islanders captain.  That is an example of stepping up and turning a negative into a positive for that young fan.

World Juniors:

Toronto Sun:  Eric Comrie happy with play, would love to start in medal round.  The Jets prospect put on quite the display in the win over rival USA last night.  Now we wait to see whether he will be starting when Canada takes on fellow Jets prospect Nikolaj Ehlers and Team Denmark on Friday.

Montreal Gazette:  Canada plays with pure skill and plenty of aggression against USA.  It wasn’t all about Eric Comrie as defenceman and 2013 1st round pick (13th overall) Josh Morrissey had a huge impact on the game.  Check out these highlights of his goal and huge hit:
