Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  No Trouba? No trouble.  Everybody had to step up in the absence of a player as critical as Trouba and last night they did.  Scheifele was the best player on the ice finishing with two goals and an assist.  It was obvious that coach Maurice wanted to give the centre a chance at the hat trick as he double shifted him on the power play late in the 3rd.  It was not to be.  The MTS Centre faithful were chanting his name over and over wanting to see their second hat trick in less than two weeks.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Give Jets’ depleted ‘D’ an ‘A’.   Seems the system play is working for the bench boss.  Of course they were facing a Sabres team on the second game of a back-to-back.  Defence played a pretty decent game.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Time to deal yourself in, Chevy.  Not sure the Jets have the right pieces to make a move at this point.  Really will be interesting to see how they fair over the weekend as they face off against the Bruins and Flyers.  Then they have a Tuesday contest against Chicago followed by a home and home with the Wild.  Do you think the Jets will make a trade?

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets thrash Sabres 5-1.  The penalty kill on the 5 on 3 when the Jets had been dominating was big.  Despite giving up the first goal of the game the Jets were able to seize back momentum and got some nice contributions from the entire team.

Winnipeg Sun:  Frolik delivers knockout punch – again.  He has been able to find chemistry with almost any player on the team to date.  Whether its with Scheifele and Perreault or him and Slater on the penalty kill he has thrived in whatever role he has been asked to play.

The Buffalo News:  Jets jump all over streaking Sabres.  Buffalo came into last night’s game as one of the hottest team’s in the East but they were unable to improve on their four game win streak as it came to an abrupt end at the MTS Centre.

TSN:  That’s Hockey 2Nite (video). The guys break down how Mark Scheifele’s comfort level has translated to better play.

Sportsnet:  L.A. kid dreamed of playing for Canada.  A good read on Jets prospect Eric Comrie and his desire to wear a Team Canada uniform.

Illegal Curve:  Jets lose Trouba until sometime in February.  Less than two weeks after coach Maurice announced that Clitsome, Enstrom and Bogosian were done for awhile, he dropped a new bomb yesterday when he opened his pre-game scrum with the news that sophomore defenceman Jacob Trouba would be done for six weeks.

TSN:  C’mon Ref.  Couple of fans ask former NHL referee Kerry Fraser how he would have called the second goal against the Jets when they faced off against the Ducks.  It was the goal that Ryan Getzlaf scored after Tim Jackman had made contact with Michael Hutchinson.

Jets 5 Sabres 1:

Winnipeg Jets: Michael Frolik, Ondrej Pavelec and Mark Scheiefle.

Buffalo Sabres:  Coach Nolan, Brian Gionta, Michal Neuvirth and Nikita Zadorov.

Coach Maurice post-game presser: Coach Maurice met with the media following the game against Buffalo.

Jets on a Deadline:  Game recaps, post-game audio, video highlights and the NHL.com 3 Stars of the night.
