Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets news.

Note:  The Jets are in the mile high city to take on the Avalanche in the second and final game on this mini road trip.  Colorado has been on a downward spiral as they continue to head the wrong way in the standings.  The Avs have just one win in their last six games which includes a 6-2 shellacking by the Jets last week in Winnipeg.  It should be an interesting contest at the Pepsi Center starting at 8 pm cst and as always keep it locked to @illegalcurve for all the latest pre & post game Jets content.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets fans get last laugh.  I certainly hope fans in Winnipeg didn’t get too bent out of shape by the Stars Jumbotron.  I personally didn’t think there was anything wrong with  the attempt to stir it up.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Light bulb moment for Chiarot.  You would think he has been playing in the NHL for quite some time with how calm, cool and collected he appears to be.

Winnipeg Sun:  NHL taking notice of the Jets.  Almost everyone was picking them to be a bottom of the Central Division team and so far this season they have refused to prove the pundits right.

Ladd vs. Crosby

Winnipeg Sun:  All Michael Hutchinson does is win.  Ted makes the case for making the back-up the starter.

Winnipeg Sun:  Too soon to take job from Ondrej Pavelec.  Ken makes the case for Pavelec to remain as the starter.

Illegal Curve:  A look at Coach Paul Maurice’s evolving goalie philosophy.  The coach has moved from riding Pavelec almost exclusively to start the year to using a goalie rotation.

Kelowna Capital News:  Kelowna Rockets acquire top blueliner Morrissey in WHL blockbuster.  There was some chatter earlier about this potential trade happening and finally it is a reality.

Sportsnet:  Garbutt slew-foots Byfuglien, gets NHL hearing.  You can watch videos of the slew-foot of Byfuglien as well as the one on Hutchinson, which I thought was a pretty bad move by Garbutt.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Little makes history with first Jets hat-trick since return to Winnipeg.  Paul’s blog hits on the historic hat trick we witnessed last week.  Also adds some notes about Pardy, on the Jets wins, comeback victory and facing the Capitals.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Rona Roundtable (audio).  Dave Reid joined Rick to talk about the strong play of Ben Chiarot.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  The Big Show (audio).  Shane Hnidy joined the boys to discuss why Winnipeg seems to have finally found an identity under Paul Maurice.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  The Big Show (audio).  Gary joined the guys from the NHL’s Board of Governors meetings in Boca Raton, Florida to provide an update on the World Cup of Hockey as well as where things stand on an outdoor game for the Jets, and who a potential opponent could be.

Avalanche news:

Denver Post:  Rookie Calvin Pickard is the main man now with Semyon Varlamov out.  Looks like the Jets will be facing a Winnipeg product in net this evening.

Denver Post:  Wary of finger-pointing, Landeskog, Iginla and Tanguay discuss Avalanche players-only meeting.  Things certainly have gotten messy in Denver this season.
