As folks in these parts well know there have been a number of players put on the shelf for the Jets. This list (from the team) includes:
Bryan Little* (12 games missed) Lower Body (Indefinite) Oct. 13 vs. CAR
Drew Stafford* (7 games missed) Upper Body (Day-to-Day) Oct. 25 at DAL
Tyler Myers* (5 games missed) Lower Body (Day-to-Day) Oct. 28 at COL
Mark Stuart (4 games missed) Lower Body (Day-to-Day) Oct. 30 vs. BUF
Shawn Matthias* (3 games missed) Lower Body (Indefinite) Nov. 1 vs. WSH
Mathieu Perreault (2 games missed) Upper Body (Day-to-Day) Nov. 3 at WSH
Joel Armia (2 games missed) Lower Body (Indefinite) Nov. 3 at WSH
*Injured Reserve. Total games lost to injury to date is 35 (This puts Winnipeg middle of the NHL pack for man games lost so far in 2016-17).
We got an update from Jets coach Paul Maurice on Sunday on some of the players:
Tyler Myers, Mark Stuart and Mathieu Perreault all remain day-to-day and he is hopeful they will be available to play against Dallas on Tuesday.
Reports from Saturday had Joel Armia out 6-8 weeks but Finnish NHL reporter Sami Hoffrén tweeted this morning:
“Unlike Sportsnet reported, Joel Armia is actually recovering from MCL injury. No need for surgery. Sidelined 4-6 weeks.”
Expectations are Bryan Little and Shawn Matthias are projected to return towards the end of November as coach Maurice indicated on November 2nd that “we look at his (Matthias) injury the same as Bryan Little. It is going to be some time”.
The only player whose return isn’t too specific is Drew Stafford. While he is listed as day-to-day by the team, Coach Maurice hasn’t provided any hints as to when the Jets winger may be available to return to the lineup.
Of course with three players returning to the roster potentially tomorrow night it begs the question who may be sent back down to the Manitoba Moose…..
