Just over two weeks ago Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff was being asked why his 2017 1st rounder hadn’t yet found a place to play overseas while they wait for the NHL/AHL season to get underway. Today Kristian Vesalainen has a new home as the Jets announced this morning that the talented winger has been loaned to HPK of the liiga.
Vesalainen played his first full season in North America last year in the AHL scoring 12 goals for the Moose and adding 18 assists in 60 games. He earned himself a recall but didn’t play in a game with Winnipeg. He developed good chemistry playing with 2018 2nd rounder David Gustafsson on the top line for Manitoba.
The Jets confirmed there is an out clause for when pro hockey gets going next season.
