Back at the 2018 draft in Dallas during the 6th round the Jets selected goalie Jared Moe. He was playing for the Waterloo Black Hawks of the USHL and committed to play at Minnesota.
Unfortunately the Minnesota product was stuck behind Hurricanes 2016 3rd round goalie prospect Jack LaFontaine who got the bulk of playing time with the Gophers. That ultimately led to him entering the transfer portal back in March of 2021 as he looked for a new place to play. A week later he made the decision to switch to Wisconsin.
He spent the past two seasons playing for the Badgers and getting the bulk of starts. In 2021-22 he finished with a 8-16-3 record with a 2.97 GAA and a .917 save%. This past season he went 10-17-0 with a 3.31 GAA and a .898 save%.
Similar to the last time he entered the portal today’s news comes via Brad Schlossman of the Grand Forks Herald who revealed that Moe would be seeking a new spot to tend the net.
What’s interesting about this decision is that as per Capfriendly the Jets have his rights until August 15, 2023 and clearly he is looking to remain in the NCAA for one more season of eligibility. (He cannot sign a pro deal and play in college). It’s always possible after examining his options that he decides against playing another year of college and turns pro.
Stay tuned to find out where he ends up.
