post-game recap

Winnipeg Jets have offensive explosion as they defeat Devils 6-3 to win fourth game in last five

Recap of the game

The Jets picked up a big 6-3 win over the Devils to improve to 8-5-2 as they’ve now won four of their last five games. Big night for Perfetti, Ehlers, Connor, Morrissey and more.

Notable:

Somewhat unexpectedly Logan Stanley was inserted into the lineup as the Jets went 11/7 and David Gustafsson came out. It was his second game of the season. (Update: Gustafsson was healthy. Arniel said they wanted to get Stanley into a game).

Fun fact: Nikolaj Ehlers moved past Vlad Namestnikov’s uncle Vyacheslav Kozlov on the Jets/Thrashers (combined) games played list as he plays his 538th game into sole possession of 10th. For Jets 2.0 he’s 5th overall. Would be 6th on Jets 1.0 behind Teppo (547).

400 games for Neal Pionk. It was his 299th in a Jets uniform.

The Jets lost Rasmus Kupari to an upper-body injury in the 1st period after he went into the boards awkwardly.

Kyle Connor got his 12th goal in his 29th game (December 15th) last season. This year he’s got to 12 (so far) in 15 games. That’s a 65 goal pace. Of course that number was added to later in the game.

Four straight games with a goal for Cole Perfetti as the 2020 1st rounder is showing what he’s capable of. He’s up to 5G in 15 games (almost a 30 goal pace). Last year he had 8G in 51 games.

Fun fact: This is the first ever four game goal streak for Cole Perfetti as a pro. In his two seasons with the Moose he had a three game streak (where he scored four goals). He’s also got a seven game points streak.

Kyle Connor tied for the NHL lead in goals as he’s up to 13 goals. Call him Mr. Rocket Richard. On pace for 76 goals. Not too shabby. He’s also on pace for 109 points.

Josh Morrissey with a “quiet” four assist night which makes him the third Jets player to do that this season (Scheifele & Iafallo).

Kyle Connor now moves into sole possession of 1st spot on the Jets all-time list for game-winning goals with 46. Mark Scheifele, who set him up, now in 2nd with 45.

When you think of even-Steven you have to think of Kyle Connor. He has 222 goals and 222 assists for 444 points in his career.

Multi Point Game:

Josh Morrissey 4A
Kyle Connor 2G 1A
Nikolaj Ehlers 2G
Cole Perfetti 1G 1A
