There was plenty of consternation in Winnipeg back in September of 2016 when word broke that Jacob Trouba had requested a trade from the organization that drafted him back in 2012. After holding out for a bit the Jets and Trouba agreed to a two-year bridge deal. That deal runs out at the end of this season at which time Trouba will be a restricted free agent with arbitration rights (via Capfriendly).

Back in December of 2017 it was reported by Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet that Trouba was happy in Winnipeg when he was playing on the right side, which he has been doing along with Josh Morrissey.
While in the midst of this Jets playoff run we weren’t expecting any news/insight into a contract for the Jets top pairing Dman however on twitter today Jim Toth of TSN 1290 tweeted this:
Source tells me #NHLJets Jacob Trouba has informed his agent he wants to remain a Jet & sign long term. Agent Kurt Overhardt has declined to comment. Won’t play out till this summer & does not mean a deal will get done but have been told the desire & wish is to stay in #Winnipeg

That is good news for the Jets who can use Trouba and Morrissey shutting down the opposition for the foreseeable future.

As well as a number of Moose players are in need of new deals including RFAs Nic Petan, Chase De Leo, Eric Comrie, JC Lipon, Jan Kostalek, Jimmy Lodge, Jaime Phillips and UFAs Buddy Robinson, Mike Sgarbossa, Cameron Schilling and Julian Melchiori. Finally add to the mix Patrik Laine who many expect will get a new deal on July 1st and it is going to be really, really busy (and expensive) summer for the Jets GM.
