Globe and Mail: Jets Glass not about to change his game. It is a subject players and even the coach don’t seem eager to discuss. When asked in his press conference today about the Derek Boogaard report coach Noel wasn’t eager to offer up a comment. As Tanner Glass has told IC previously: “Fighting still has a place in the game“.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets focus on Bruins, glance at realignment. The Jets seemed happy with the new configuration but as Ed points out, the focus for today has to be the Boston Bruins and their 14-0-1 record over past 5 or 6 weeks.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets like realignment, ready for to face red-hot Bruins. Ondrej Pavelec will be starting in net for the Jets and once again Jets fans will be seeing a back-up as Tuuka Rask is expected to start for the Bruins.
Winnipeg Free Press: Format a win, win for Winnipeg. Chairman of True North and Governor of the Jets Mark Chipman lays out why this was a victory for the team:
“We’re very excited about this. There are three things about this that I really like. Central time zone will be important for us from a travel standpoint and from a broadcast perspective. Our fans will be able to watch our games at a regular time,” said Chipman, now a veteran of two whole NHL board of governors meetings. “If we had gone into the Northwest there would have been a fair number of games coming from the West Coast and starting later. Two, we get two Original Six teams. I don’t even know how to quantify that. Those are high-watermark organizations that you aspire to play and be like. So that’s great. The other outcome is our fans will get to see every team, every year. We like that.”
CBC: Bruins juggernaut steamroll into town. It is difficult to comprehend that this team hasn’t lost (in regulation) since the end of October. As coach Noel said in today’s press conference, the Jets are going to have to execute their game plan to come out with a victory.
Winnipeg Sun: TSN Jets free preview ends today. For MTS subscribers they have been paying for awhile, but Shaw customers were extended to today as a result of a Shaw screw-up during a Jets broadcast. Originally they were scheduled to start charging for December 1st.
Arctic Ice Hockey: Holiday Jets prizes. Donate money and you can win prizes. Seems like a win, win to me.
Metro: RCMP warns public about counterfeit goods. Not surprisingly, here in Manitoba, the top items were Jets jerseys.
Illegal Curve: Jets game day post-practice audio. Following the Jets practice we caught up with Evander Kane, Chris Thorburn, Ron Hainsey, Tanner Glass, Blake Wheeler and Andrew Ladd. As well we cover the press conference of Coach Noel.
