Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets hope to press home ice advantageAs cliche as it sounds the Jets know they can’t get too far ahead of themselves and have to stay focused on “1 game at a time”They can’t afford to look past the team they are playing tonight, a team that is currently ahead of them in the standings.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets and Senators ready for 2nd meeting Coach Noel was complimentary to the Senators during his game-day press conference and the game they played in Ottawa, a game he noted they used to springboard themselves onto a nice winning streak.  His focus is on getting his game to play the way he has outlined after being on the road.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Arnett helps Winnipeg United Way give gifts of sport to kidsIt is very nice that the actor, who has a Winnipeg family connection, is giving to this community in such a way that will allow kids who wouldn’t normally have the opportunity, the chance to see NHL hockey.

CBC:  NHL 1st quarter hints at snug playoff racesInteresting (and unfortunate) if you are a fan of the Jets that of the 8 teams in a playoff position at this time last year, only 1 (Ottawa) fell out of a playoff spot.  Do you expect the Jets to make the final 8 this year?

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets Scheifele enjoying the rideThe Jets first choice in the 2011 Entry Draft always seems to have a smile on his face as he embraces all these new challenges.  Expect big things from him at the World Juniors this year.

Illegal Curve:  Game day post-practice audioIf you’d like to hear from the Jets we spoke 1 on 1 with Jim Slater, Chris Thorburn and Bryan Little.  Scrums with Mark Stuart and Kyle Wellwood.

Jets next opponent news – Ottawa Senators:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Senators know crowd’s energy brings MTS Centre aliveJason Spezza seemed very aware of what this Winnipeg crowd is like, even saying he had watched the home opener and was excited to see the crowds.  Of course as a visiting player he hasn’t yet experienced the Manitoba hospitality that gets left at the doors of the MTS Centre, when usually ‘Friendly Manitobans’ lose that moniker.

Ottawa Citizen:  Senators stand pat against JetsPaul MacLean is going to use the same lineup he won with in Carolina on Sunday.
