There was some question as to the status of Patrik Laine after he left practice on Monday early.  The Jets didn’t skate today and coach Paul Maurice isn’t available until 6:30 pm CDT but TSN insider Darren Dreger tweeted:

“Appears Laine is doubtful for tonight’s game vs the Ducks. Lower body. Not serious. Likely day to day.”

Which he has now updated:

This leaves the Jets with just 11 forwards (including Logan Shaw) who can play.  Adam Lowry begins game one of his two game suspension tonight.  Going back to his college hockey days perhaps Tucker Poolman plays a bit of forward. He did it for UND and he’s also done it out of necessity for the Moose. I cannot recall if he’s ever done it in a game for the Jets or not.

The Moose practiced in Winnipeg today and there haven’t been any reports yet of any players recalled and I’m told that all players were present and accounted for at Bell MTS Place.

Update:

Prior to puck drop this is what coach Maurice had to say about Laine’s status: “He’s been dealing with this for about a week or so and just tightened up on him I guess yesterday in practice.  Day-to-day.  We’ll see.”  When asked if it had anything to do with what happened in practice on Monday the Jets bench boss added “No.  This is something we’ve been working on for about a week.” He went on to add “He’s got a minor lower-body issue fellas that we didn’t get ahead of apparently and it tightened up on him during practice.  Had nothing to do with any bumps.”
