Prospect Pulse: Mikkel Bodker

Going back to the Dutch well (which would be a perfect name for a sex act), Prospect Pulse looks at Mikkel Bodker of the Kitchener Rangers. Bodker is projected to be a Top 10 pick in this year’s NHL Entry Draft. A little bulldog type of player, the Dane stands at 5-11, 201 and is adepting well in his first season in the OHL.

An offensive player who skates well and has an explosive first step, Bodker is described as having pure speed with an extra gear to boot. He can draw penalties with his wheels and always keeps his feet moving, which makes his difficult to check or contain. Aggressive in traffic and along the boards, Bodker almost always wins battles for the puck and is able to use his size to leverage players away from the puck or the play.

He has been gaining muscle over the last couple of years and his new found strength has aided his skating and his shot. The winger uses a quick release to score goals and loves to step out from the corners to get shots on net and attempt wrap-arounds. He has stated that he prefers to play the role of set up man, and displays remarkable patience with the puck.

The Jets and Moose remain off the ice while the Ice of Winnipeg are back on it tomorrow night here in Manitoba.
