OTB: New combinations for the Habs, Langkow’s return and Hitchcock praises Bruins

What team beat writers are saying this afternoon:

  • The Ducks raised almost 100k for charity.  Nice to see.
  • Ken Hitchcock compares the Bruins style of play to the 70’s Canadiens.  Quite the compliment, but style of play is about the only thing those two teams have in common.
  • Teppo Numminen checks into the Sabres lineup tonight.  One of the classiest players to ever play the game.
  • Daymond Langkow returns to the Flames lineup tonight.  Huge, huge return.
  • Apparently Martin Havlat is day-to-day for the Hawks.  Surprised, but happy, to see him go this long into the season without getting hurt.
  • Columbus lines from practice today.   I really like this team, and hope that the fans of Columbus can finally see some playoff games, but Manny Malhotra as number one center?? Worrisome.
  • If you haven’t been following the Stars lately, Mike Heika calls Steve Ott the team’s best player as of late.  That’s encouraging…
  • Don Lever has been named apart of Bob Gainey’s coaching staff.  Had been coaching the team’s AHL affiliate.
  • Check out the lineup changes the Habs plan to employ tonight.  I like the defense changes there.
  • More ambiguous Marian Gaborik injury information.  Seems like we get this bi-weekly.
  • No Jay Pandolfo (healthy scratch) tonight for Jersey.  Rupp gets the call against the bigger Flames.
  • Dan Ellis starts tonight for the Predators.  Pekka Rinne sick.
  • No Petr Sykora tonight for the Penguins.  Malkin will miss him.
  • Rob Blake’s injury isn’t seriousHe is expected to return to the lineup on Saturday.  To be honest, the rest doesn’t hurt, as the Sharks are cemented as either number one or two in the West.
  • Daniel Briere will play tonight for the Flyers.  The Flyers need this guy to remain healthy.
