On the Beat: Patrick Kane was once nice to a cabbie

What team beat writers are saying this afternoon:

  • Bruins prospect Jordan Caron is expected to miss the team’s rookie camp now that he has fractured his collarbone.  Tough break (no pun intended) for Boston.  The injury is obviously not serious, but I’m sure they wanted to guage Caron’s progress against the team’s other prospects.
  • Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune wants readers to know that Patrick Kane has been nice to be a cabbie before.  But he still allegedly beat the crap out of a cabbie for 20 cents
  • Jackets prospect John Moore is staying with Team USAThis kid has loads of talent.  I believe the Blue Jackets got a steal here.
  • If you don’t live in Canada, you probably missed Colten Teubert’s massive hit at the Canadian Junior Camp.  Huge hit.  His response to reporters after was Scott Stevens-esque–not much remorse.
  • The Habs have signed Greg Stewart to a one-year dealWorth $500,000.  Fits nicely under the cap.
  • Damian Cristodero of the St. Petersburg Times gives Gary Bettman credit for pushing the Lightning to resolve its ownership issues.  This matter has to get resolved, so I agree with Cristodero.  The problem is, I didn’t know anyone was allowed to give Gary Bettman credit…I kid, I kid.
