- The Ducks’ power play finally came through and won the Ducks, as they defeatd the Predators last night at the Honda Center. Anaheim almost found a way to blow the game, as Predators winger Joel Ward sent it to overtime with under three minutes remaining.
- Ron Hainsey, Ilya Kovalchuk and Zach Bogosian are all probable for tomorrow night’s game against Detroit.
- Steve Montador is pretty comfortable so far in Boston. The Bruins are hoping tonight’s game against Los Angeles serves as a turnaround point down the stretch.
- “We haven’t dealt well with some adversity in games. I think guys got scared,” said Sabres coach Lindy Ruff.
- The Flames needed to win on Wednesday after a poor road trip, so the troops were happy with a 2-1 vcitory over Dallas. Jamie Lundmark had a goal and a fight in yesterday’s victory over the Stars. Calgary has its stars, but the grinders were the story on Wednesday. Todd Bertuzzi hopes to be back on skates in the next few days.
- Carolina came out ready to play yesterday against New Jersey and that’s why they came away with a 4-2 home victory.
- With the struggles in Chicago, the Blackhawks were happy to at least get a point against the Blue Jackets on Wednesday night.
- The Avalanche may qualify for revenue sharing this season, writes Adrian Dater.
- It was a bit of an odd game, but Columbus will take two points if they can get it. Antoine Vermette is fitting in perfectly in Columbus. Ken Hitchcock admits watching games in this tight playoff race can be agonizing.
- The Stars have had so many injuries this season, that it is starting to show in their play, writes Mike Heika. Speaking of injures, Mike Modano missed last night’s game with a groin problem.
- Here are Ken Holland’s comments about trying to re-sign Marian Hossa. The next six days could determine if the Wings win the number one NHL seed.
- Oilers netminder Dwayne Roloson, 39, feels like is 24 right now. The Oilers are out for revenge against the Avalanche tonight. Somebody tell Ethan Moreau he shouldn’t be fighting.
- Nathan Horton is probably about two weeks away from returning to the Panthers lineup. The Panthers aren’t about to panic, but they know the task at hand.
- Billy Witz of the L.A. Times says the Kings are in must-win territory.
- Kurtis Foster is hoping for some good luck in Minnesota.
- Alexei Kovalev denies he had a bad relationship with Guy Carbonneau. Red Fisher commends Carbonneau on how he handled himself at yesterday’s press conference.
- Do the Predators owe Metro approximately $400,000 in seat taxes?
- Doug Weight hopes to return to the Islanders lineup by the latter part of next week.
- Mark Everson of the NY Post says the Devils might as well have stayed home yesterday instead of flying to play Carolina. Kevin Weekes was angry after the loss to Carolina.
- Brandon Dubinsky may not be racking up points but he’s doing the little things well. Larry Brooks heaps praise on the Rangers.
- The streaking Senators want to put a wrench in the Habs’ playoff hopes tonight. Pascal Leclaire may not be playing but he’s working hard off the ice to be ready for next season.
- Sam Carchidi is concerned about how many shots the Flyers give up. While Ed Moran wonders where Daniel Briere fits in?
- The Doan-Mueller-Turris line demonstrated some nice chemistry the other night against San Jose. Brian McGrattan is back with the Coyotes and fighting like usual. Nigel Dawes is playing for the team he grew up idolozing.

- The Sharks had an organizational meeting to see where the team is at. Being a team dentist is a busy job.
- The Blues are hoping for one of their nice bounce-back performances when they play tonight in GM Place, where a visiting team hasn’t won in ten games.
- Lightning defenseman Cory Murphy is out for the season with a broken foot. With so many injuries on the back-end, Matt Lashoff is getting a good opportunity to play.
- Curtis Joseph still loves playing hockey. The Leafs hugged out their problems on Wednesday. John Mitchell is gaining confidence with extra ice-time.
