Moose sweep two-game series with the IceHogs on strength of four goal comeback this afternoon

Recap of the Moose game.

The Moose came into today’s re-match with the IceHogs having won two straight including a 7-2 win over Rockford on Thursday.

Lineup changes:

After getting back CJ Suess and Dylan Samberg on Thursday the Moose got Austin Poganski back in the lineup today after he cleared waivers on Friday. With Poganski coming in that meant Matt Alfaro was out. Otherwise aside from Mikey Eyssimont going down to the 4th line where Alfaro was it was the same lineup as the last game.

Moose lineup:

Malott – Gustafsson – Poganski
Polei – Maier – Jones
Suess – Meireles – Lynch
Eyssimont – Hutchinson – Burgess

Heinola – Kovacevic
Chisholm – Gawanke
Samberg –  Oligny

Notable:

What a surprise (not) as you can add another assist for Greg Meireles as he sets up CJ Suess to help the home side cut the deficit to one. He leads the team with 22 assists. That was the fifth goal for Suess. See it here.

Back to back games with a goal for David Gustafsson as he scored his 10th goal of the season to get the Moose within one. See it here.

42 seconds after they got within one the Moose tied the game 3-3 courtesy of this shot from the point by Johnny Kovacevic as he scored his eighth of the year. See it here.

Jeff Malott scored the third straight goal for the Moose this afternoon as his 15th of the year makes it 4-3 for Manitoba just 34 seconds into the 3rd. See it here.

Ville Heinola went for a wheel around the ice before he rips this shot on net which was tipped by Austin Poganski to make it four straight goals by the Moose to give them a 5-3 lead. Seriously watch this one here.

The 5-3 victory means the Moose won their third straight game. They scored four straight times after going down 3-1 in this game. They improved to 18-6-0-1 in Winnipeg and 29-17-2-1 overall.
