(1) Game Notes

Coming off two straight road wins in Iowa and Chicago, the Moose returned home with a 4-3-0-0 record to face the Belleville Senators. The Moose got on the board about 9 minutes into the first period – a Buddy Robinson tip-in off a Cam Schilling point shot. Belleville tied it up just over three minutes later on the PP, a screened shot that beat Eric Comrie. But just three minutes after that, the Moose retook the lead  on their own PP, with Buddy Robinson picking up a puck back-door and beating the Hamburgler, Andrew Hammond with a quick wrister. The Moose nearly took a 3-1 lead in the second period when Chase De Leo let go a wicked wrister which hit the cross bar. Instead, Belleville managed to tie the game up when Ben Sexton beat Comrie short side past the blocker. Belleville then took the lead after a fantastic feed by the 2015-16 QMJHL player of the year, Francis Perron found Gabriel Gagne back-door for a tap-in. The Sens held the lead through most of the 3rd period, but with 2:14 left, Mason Appleton made a great pass to Chase De Leo in front, and he tipped the puck past Hammond to tie things up and send the game to OT. The extra period was tremendous – Eric Comrie made a huge save on a breakaway a minute just a minute in, then Sami Niku nearly ended it off a great passing play that included Buddy Robinson and Mason Appleton. The game ended up going to a shootout.
