Inaugural Winnipeg Jets season ticket member advisory council season-end report

Looking back at the efforts to improve Member and fan experiences at games.

Ahead of last season the Jets formed an advisory council which was made up of fans who would provide the club with input from a ‘fans perspective’.

This week the team sent out this end of season report to their season ticket holders which reads as follows:

We hope you are enjoying the start of your summer. We would like to extend our appreciation for your support and invaluable contributions as a Winnipeg Jets Season Ticket Member this past season. We cannot do this without the passion and dedication you show, not just at games, but through your everyday fandom.

You may recall that at the start of last season, we introduced our Season Ticket Member Advisory Council. The objective of the council was to help business leadership improve the Member and fan experience with focused insights representing the various segments of the Season Ticket Member base (full and partial season Members, share partners, upper bowl, lower bowl and Premium Members) and varied community perspectives. The Season Ticket Member Advisory Council – selected through a process with almost 700 applicants – can be found HERE.

We are pleased to share a brief report of the activities of the Season Ticket Member Advisory council this past season:

Meetings:

The council met with leadership for three full-day meetings during the season (start, mid, end), and provided informal consultation throughout the season, both individually and as a group. Each meeting included presentations from Jets leadership with the opportunity for the council to provide feedback. Meetings also included group exercises and roundtable discussions. Agenda and discussion topics included:
Evolving nature of Jets ticketing business
Jets content strategy
Ways to improve Member and fan experience
Jets App and Jets 360 strategy
Fan journey experience “mapping” representing different fan segments
Season Ticket Member gifting
Season end review

Council Influence on Decisions:

Your council represented you well and we are grateful for their passion and dedication to the process. Discussion was lively, diverse, informed – and council members were not afraid to share opinions even if they were contrary to those of leadership.

More importantly, the input of the council has already directly impacted decisions and directions made this past season as well as initiatives to come in 2023-24. The following are just some examples of their impacts and decisions they helped to inform:
New Ticket Swap benefit to be introduced for 2023-24
University/College engagement strategy
Enhancement of business sales/presentation materials to better resonate with businesses
Sampled new Premium menu items and provided feedback on food and space plans
Valuable consultation and engagement on all aspects relating to South Asian and Filipino Heritage games, as well as discussions on future opportunities to engage the diverse Manitoba community in upcoming seasons
Consultation in growing the game through hockey for all centre’s new First Shift program to provide opportunities for new Canadian youth to learn the sport
Feedback and input on marketing and content direction
Season Ticket Member gifting and fan promotional giveaway items for the upcoming season
We express our immense gratitude to the Season Ticket Member Advisory Council, who, in their first ten months of existence, fulfilled their mandate of providing constructive and honest feedback to help ensure that True North is living up to the expectations of our Season Ticket Members and the broader Winnipeg Jets fanbase.

Looking Forward:

As we look ahead to the upcoming season, we remain committed to elevating your experience as a Season Ticket Member. We will continue to work closely with the council in 2023-24, the second year of the council’s two-year term, to further additional fan experience themes, including member-initiated topics like improved and expanded use of the Winnipeg Jets app.

True North will also continue our commitment to seeking wider fan input with the Fan Forum survey product introduced in the last few months, which you can still sign up for HERE. Your continued involvement and feedback are an important part of our ongoing efforts to deliver unforgettable moments both on and off the ice.

As we aim to further strengthen the role of the council in 2023-24, at their suggestion, we will be working to introduce a channel for you to directly engage with our Season Ticket Member Advisory Council with your questions, suggestions or concerns. More information to come.

We wish you a summer filled with joy and excitement and look forward to seeing you at the rink soon.

Go Jets Go!

Sincerely,
