Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Your source for all the latest hockey news in Manitoba.

Note: We are now in the quiet stretch of time which silence may be broken with news of a signing of the remaining RFAs (Kupari, Stanley & Chisholm) as well as a potential free agent or two.

Note II: Reminder to join us this morning for two hours of Jets talk on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show which gets underway at 9 AM sharp. We will be joined by Jeff Hamilton of the Winnipeg Free Press and Jets forward Vlad Namestnikov.

Jets news:

NHL.com: Barlow could fill future leadership role with Jets. It was clear as day that the Jets 2023 first rounder has the type of personality that screams leadership on and off the ice.

EP Rinkside: Is Gabriel Vilardi’s new deal with the Winnipeg Jets the same old story or a new status quo? (Paywall). The Jets are not a team that often signs guys to long-term deals at this point in their career. They’ve done it three times to date (Scheifele, Ehlers and Connor). Especially in this situation with the level of unfamiliarity between the two sides this two-year bridge makes sense and then they’ll have two more years before he hits UFA.

Jets video:

Sportsnet: All 7 shorthanded goals from the Jets’ 2022-23 season. Watch every shorthanded goal scored by the Winnipeg Jets from the 2022-23 season.

Ice news:

The Hockey News: Winnipeg’s Carson Lambos: “I Feel Ready to Play the Pro Game”. Carter caught up with the Ice captain as he turns his focus to a pro career. And folks in Manitoba will likely be seeing quite a bit of him, either with Minnesota or Iowa.
