It was a great start for the Jets who began by outshooting the Islanders 7-2 and scoring the only goal of the opening frame when Nikolaj Ehlers ripped home his third goal of the season.  Winnipeg would outshoot New York 16-5 after 20 minutes.

The middle frame was looking good for the Jets as they didn’t allow a shot for quite some time but the first shot of the 2nd period was a Mathew Barzal one-timer on a New York power play to tie the game.  With just 17 seconds left in the 2nd Barzal struck again to give the Islanders a 2-1 lead.

Lots of chances but the Jets were unable to tie it up and the Islanders put home a late 3rd period empty netter to give them the win.  Jets have now lost three straight.

Coach Maurice:  On where the game turned.  What did they do better as the game wore on?  Thoughts on the penalty kill.  On the good things from the game.  How does a team develop a “killer instinct”?  What did he think of Ville Heinola?  What went into changing the D pairs between the pre-game warm up and the start of the game.  Is he happy with how the team reacts to getting scored against?  How would he assess the penalty kill as compared to Tuesday night?
