Game 77: Jets 6 Devils 1 post-game recap

Post-game recap and interviews with Jets players as well as head coach Rick Bowness.

The Jets needed to be a very good Devils team in order to pick up two points and that’s just what they did. Don’t let the score fool you. It was a total team effort in all three zones. Jets improve to 43-31-3 which gives them 89 points.

Notable:

Just five minutes into this game the Jets had a lead courtesy of Nikolaj Ehlers who finished off a Blake Wheeler pass.

Huge play by Adam Lowry with a about ten minutes after the opening goal which directly led to the Jets second goal. If he doesn’t the Devils are attacking with numbers. Was a huge swing in this game.

Vlad Namestnikov took the stolen puck back into the Devils zone, got it to Blake Wheeler who found Nino Niederreiter who found the back of the net. And Disco Inferno played over the loudspeakers.

The important thing for Winnipeg was they continued to attack when they took a two goal lead in the game.

Morgan Barron scored on his first ever NHL penalty shot.

Midway through the 2nd period the play developed which gave Kyle Connor an opportunity in front and he was not missing that chance. It was his 30th of the season and the fifth time in his career he’s hit that mark.

Pierre-Luc Dubois tied his career high for assists with 34 which he originally set with the Blue Jackets in 2018-19. This time he accomplished the feat in nine fewer games.

Also impressive were the defensive efforts by the Jets as a collective group with players getting into lanes and blocking shots.

After a Devils push the Jets got some momentum back including a fifth goal in the game courtesy of Pierre-Luc Dubois who is up to 60 points on the season.

With the primary assist to Josh Morrissey he is now up to 70 points (15G 55A) on the season. Just remarkable.

The Jets scored a power play goal. I repeat the Jets have scored a power play goal. Who else but Nikolaj Ehlers who finished off a nice pass by Mark Scheifele to make it 6-0.

Connor Hellebuyck‘s shutout bid was broken with 13.9 seconds left in the 3rd.

Multi Point Game:

Nikolaj Ehlers 2G
Pierre-Luc Dubois 1G 1A
Blake Wheeler 2A
Josh Morrissey 2A
