Game 61: Jets 3 Canadiens 1 post-game report

Post-game from the Jets dressing rooms as well as from Coach Maurice.

Quick Note:

With his 28th goal Patrik Laine has taken the rookie goal scoring lead and is also the rookie points leader with 50 points.  After scoring the 15 of his first 18 goals at the MTS Centre, Laine has now added seven goals on the road of his last ten goals to give him 18 at home and 10 on the road.

Stats:

Post-game audio:

Mathieu Perreault:  Getting a win/goal in his home province.  Following up the Pittsburgh game with a win.  On Joel Armia’s shorthanded goal.  On his goal.  Is this a template for success?  What did they do to hold the Habs to 20 shots?

Connor Hellebuyck:  Assessment of the game.  Fun to play in net during that game?  Nice to be rewarded for that effort?  Did it feel busier than just 20 shots?  Challenge to him on staying focused when he isn’t that tested.  On making the big stops.

Josh Morrissey:  On the effort from the Jets.  What did the team do so well in their end to limit Montreal to 20 shots? Importance to get results to keep trusting in their template.  On the Hellebuyck save on Beaulieu and what it meant for the team.  What did he think of Byfuglien’s move to set up the Perreault goal.  Fun atmosphere?

Coach Maurice:  His assessment of the game.  Starting with the puck with faceoff wins.  Thoughts on Armia’s play.  On the energy in the building and how it impacted the game.  On getting the big saves.  How much is it easier to get the room to buy into the template after these past two games?  On Byfuglien’s move to set up the Perreault goal.  On preparing for a team coming off the break and new coach.  On how tough Blake Wheeler is.  On Hellebuyck’s performance.
