The Jets held an optional skate on Thursday following a busy stretch of hockey to open the season. Winnipeg has won three straight games and collected points in all four contests, a run they’ll look to continue tonight when they welcome the Ducks to town for their first matchup against a Pacific Division opponent.
The biggest question mark for Winnipeg is the status of Josh Morrissey, who appeared to injure himself while attempting a hit late in the first period against Colorado. He tried to return in the second but lasted just one shift before calling it a night. Assistant coach Davis Payne didn’t provide an update on Thursday, so we’ll have to wait until morning skate to see if Morrissey is on the ice or hear from head coach Scott Arniel for more clarity on his status.
As for the Ducks, they appeared well on their way to improving to 3-0-0 after the opening 20 minutes against Edmonton on Wednesday. However, the Oilers came out flying over the final 40 minutes, handing Anaheim its first loss of the season.
Skate news:
No Josh Morrissey this morning but Elias Salomonsson is in a regular jersey. Tyrel Bauer comes back in and Haydn Fleury will make his season debut. Also Clay Stevenson will get his second start and first chance to play in Winnipeg.

Odds:
Winnipeg enters tonight’s matchup as the slight favourite, looking to extend its three-game winning streak as Anaheim comes to town. Continuing their strong special teams play, staying disciplined and getting contributions throughout the lineup could help the Jets maintain their impressive start to the season.
