The Jets looked like they were going to pull off the impossible up 2-0 over the Bruins last night looking to hand them their first regulation loss this season. But the home team got back into the game through a combination of fortuitous bounces and a generous penalty call although they ultimately deserved to win the game despite how they got back into it.
The Capitals were also in action last night as they won in overtime defeating the Senators 3-2 in Ottawa. The entire NHL will be watching as Ovechkin looks to tie Gordie Howe for second most goals ever in the NHL.
The biggest question mark is whether the Jets might inject Kyle Capobianco or Michael Eyssimont back into the lineup to get some fresh legs into the mix. Also there is the question as to who will be the starter. It seems very likely that it will be David Rittich as Connor Hellebuyck faced 39 shots last night.
No morning skate.
As per Jeff Hamilton of the Winnipeg Free Press some news ahead of puck drop. According to associate coach Scott Arniel no Cole Perfetti tonight as he was injured last night in the game against the Bruins and will need to be evaluated in Winnipeg. Michael Eyssimont draws back in. And he confirmed that David Rittich gets the start.
Jets just tweeted out the lineup and Dylan Samberg is out and Kyle Capobianco is in. As well the configuration below is how things start.
Jets projected lines & D pairs:
Baron – Scheifele – Kuhlman
Connor – Dubois – Gagner
Eyssimont – Lowry – Harkins
Gustafsson – Stenlund – Jonsson-Fjallby
Morrissey – DeMelo
Dillon – Pionk
Heinola – Capobianco
The Capitals come into tonight’s game having won three straight and are 8-2-0 in their last ten games. They have a solid home record of 10-5-1 while the Jets counter with a 9-6-1 road record. The oddsmakers favour the home team. Be sure to check out the latest game day odds from Betway.
