It is hard to win when you don’t get shots on the opposition goalie and that is essentially what happened throughout the game for Winnipeg. Despite it being a scoreless 1st period the Bruins controlled play for the most part and Michael Hutchinson had to keep the Jets in the game facing 14 Boston shots (Jets had 4).
The Bruins blew things open in the 2nd period scoring three goals and holding the Jets without a shot for the final 13:24 of the middle frame. The three shots they did manage in the 2nd period were all on the power play.
The Jets inability to generate shots on goal continued into the 3rd where they didn’t get their first shot until the seven minute mark on a Winnipeg power play. Unfortunately for the Jets they were already down 4-0 at that point. They managed to throw a few more shots on Tuuka Rask and finally with 2:35 left in the 3rd a Laine shot was finished off when Lowry put home the rebound. It was too little too late as Winnipeg fell to the Bruins 4-1.
The Jets now head to Carolina to play the Hurricanes tomorrow at 4 pm CT. Lots of lineup questions with the potential return of Drew Stafford.
