Game 12: Jets 5 Red Wings 3 post-game report

Post-game from the Jets dressing room as well as from coach Maurice.

It was looking like another “here we go again” type of evenings in Detroit as the Jets were playing the second game of a back-to-back while the Red Wings were rested having last played on Wednesday.  Once again they gave up the first goal of the game and had to come from behind in the 3rd period on the back of two goals by Brandon Tanev (game tying and game winner) which was also his first (and second) NHL goal.

Kids were alright tonight as Nikolaj Ehlers had four points (1G 3A), Mark Scheifele (1G 2A), Patrik Laine (1G 2A), Brandon Tanev (2G).

Kyle Connor also deserves recognition for likely saving the game for Winnipeg with a key defensive play saving Byfuglien’s bacon after 33 gave it away and it looked like Tatar has a tap in goal.  Would have given Detroit a 4-3 lead.

Player post-game audio:

Connor Hellebucyk:  Getting to play in Joe Louis Arena.  How many friends and family did he have at the game?  Quite a night/atmosphere.  On the Jets 3rd period success.  Happy for Tanev to get rewarded.

Patrik Laine:  On the grind of the NHL season.  On the Jets getting these types of wins.  Did he know he was tied for the league lead in goals.

Coach post-game audio:

Paul Maurice:  Just like he drew it up?  What does it say about the character/depth of his team?  On Tanev getting rewarded.  Is this his best Joe Louis memory?
