Game 12: Jets 5 Stars 1 post-game recap

Post-game recap and interviews with Jets players as well as head coach Rick Bowness.

And just like that the Jets take over top spot in the Central as they defeat the Stars 4-1 and improve to 8-3-1 on the season.

Notable:

That might have been the most entertaining 1st period of the season for the Jets (or the last few season) and yet neither team scored. Jets didn’t lack for chances, but Scott Wedgewood was up to the task.

Incredible 1st period tilt between Ty Dellandrea and Brenden Dillon as they dropped the gloves. It was quite the tilt. We came to a hockey game and a boxing match broke out. AND THE FANS LOVED IT.

Great line by Tim Stapleton as he was welcomed back to Winnipeg on Filipino Heritage Night. Asked if it was nice to be able to watch as a fan. He replied, “I spent plenty of night watching from the pressbox.”

The biggest name in the pressbox tonight wasn’t NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman or Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly. Instead, it is the pride of Winnipegosis and former voice of the Jets Dennis Beyak, who is in town for an alumni event.

It was appropriate given the Jets went bang-bang-bang-bang in the middle frame including a pair of goals by Mark Scheifele. Scheifele is on pace for over 50 this year. Seens like 55 could hit his jersey number in goals this season.

Pierre-Luc Dubois now on pace for 41 goals this season. His career high is 28 set last season. Think he eclipses that mark?

Josh Morrissey is currently on pace for 75 assists this season. He’s got 11 apples in 12 games.

Kyle Connor is definition of even-steven as his three assist game brings his goals and assists close together: 180 goals 174 assists He’s got 354 points in 396 games. Steal of the 2015 NHL Draft.

Saku Maenalanen got in on the action in an excellent 2nd period as he scored his first as a Jets. Four goals on 10 shots for Winnipeg.

Another first goal of the season as Mason Appleton sealed the deal into the empty net in the 3rd period.

Multi point game:

Mason Appleton 1G 2A
Kyle Connor 3A
Mark Scheifele 2G
