The Jets’ winless skid reached three games (0-2-1) following Tuesday night’s loss to the Blues to open a two-game road trip against Central Division opponents. Their task won’t get any easier as they conclude the trip against a stingy Stars team that has allowed just 15 goals through nine games this season. The next closest team has surrendered five more goals, while the Canucks have already given up 51. Suffice it to say, Winnipeg will need to be at its best this evening in Dallas.
The Jets will be hoping the season debut of Brayden Yager provides a spark to the lineup. Based on yesterday’s practice, the coaching staff appears set to slot him onto the third line alongside captain Adam Lowry and Isak Rosén, with the hope that the trio can generate some offence. While Winnipeg’s second line was its best analytically against the Blues, the Jets need that strong underlying play to translate into actual production. With tonight marking the tenth game of the season, it’s becoming increasingly important for that line to get the 300-pound monkey off its back.
The Stars come into tonight’s contest riding a three-game winning streak, including Tuesday’s comeback victory over the Atlantic Division-leading Bruins, which saw Mikko Rantanen score all three Dallas goals. Perhaps the one saving grace for the visitors is that the Stars have been less dominant on home ice, sporting a 2-2-0 record at American Airlines Center this season.

Odds:
Winnipeg heads into tonight’s matchup against Dallas with the Stars holding a significant edge on home ice. The Jets will look to snap their three-game winless skid (0-2-1) as they wrap up a two-game road trip against Central Division rivals. With Winnipeg missing key players due to injury and coming off a penalty-filled loss in St. Louis, staying disciplined, limiting opportunities for a dangerous Dallas team and finding ways to generate more offence will be important if they hope to return home with two points.
