Former Winnipeg Jets forward Mark Letestu retires

After spending 12 seasons in the NHL centre Mark Letestu has retired from hockey according to Aaron Portzline of The Athletic.  He played a total of 567 games in the NHL during his 12 seasons scoring 93 goals and adding 117 assists.

He was signed by Winnipeg on the second day of free agency ahead of the 2019-20 season. Letestu would only lace up for seven games for the Jets before it was determined in October that he had myocarditis which would shut him down for six months.

He was actually starting to work his way back to playing including a stint in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose on a conditioning assignment in March but shortly thereafter the pandemic hit, which ultimately paused pro sports.

He was voted by local chapter of PHWA as the Winnipeg Jets nominee for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy.

Perhaps his biggest Jets highlight goes to his mustard munching which seemed to create quite a buzz during the 2019-20 pre-season.
