After six seasons in Manitoba defenceman and captain Jimmy Oligny is heading to Europe to continue his career.
His last couple of seasons were marred by season altering injuries, one of which actually took place in the summer and cost him most of the 2022-23 season when he came back and played 17 games. Last year he was limited to eight games before his season concluded.

He had a significant impact off the ice in the community and was a three time winner of the Julian Klymkiw Community Service Award. Oligny was also named AHL’s Yanick Dupré Memorial Award which is given to the “man of the year for service to his local community”.
He also played a big part in the inclusive nature of the Manitoba club which treated young players like veterans and gave them a voice in the room.
Oligny was acquired by the Jets in a minor league deal with the Golden Knights back on January 3rd, 2019. He was named captain of the team in 2021.
According to Elite Prospects he’s heading to Slovakia to join HKM Zloven.
