Connor Hellebuyck had been selected by the AHL to represent the Manitoba Moose in the 2015-16 AHL All Star game. This despite the fact that the young goalie, at the time of selection by the AHL, was playing with the parent Winnipeg Jets organization.
Many expected Eric Comrie, who has not looked like a rookie at all for the Moose since assuming the mantle of starter, to be named the goalie replacement for the game. And while it hasn’t officially been announced by the team or the AHL, his Manitoba teammate Brenden Kitchton let it slip on twitter:
Congrats to the roomie @ericcomrie1 on going to the AHL all star game! Those wild/exotic meats are really paying off! #minnyworkout #chili

A well deserved honour for the rookie Moose goalie who is currently in his home state of California playing in front of friends and family for the first time as a professional.
The AHL All-Star game takes place in Syracuse, New York on Sunday, January 31st (Skills competition) and Monday, February 1st (Game).
Update: The AHL made it official this morning. Read the release here.
