The Jets placed veteran forward Dominic Toninato on waivers on Sunday for purposes of assignment to the Manitoba Moose. He has already cleared waivers twice this season. The clock has struck 1 PM CST and he was not claimed according to Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Free Press meaning the Minnesotan can be assigned to the Moose where he’s played nine games this season. He has two goals and four assists with Manitoba.
This news is good for both the NHL and AHL clubs of Winnipeg. The Jets will have a well known vet that can be an extra forward or play spot duty if required who now has a reset waiver clock while the Moose get a solid pro who brings a positive work ethic and attitude even when he’s down in the American Hockey League.
He has played 15 games for Winnipeg this season with one goal and four assists.
Jets head coach Rick Bowness confirmed today that they made the move to bring David Gustafsson off IR.
Manitoba is in action on Tuesday as they begin a two-game set against Wranglers starting on Wednesday in Calgary.
