Bobbleheads are a great collectible for sports fans. They can be preserved in the box, or taken out to show it’s bobbling glory.
Unfortunately for the Winnipeg Jets, they haven’t had much on-ice success on bobblehead nights.
Here’s a recap of the four bobblehead nights for the Winnipeg Jets since entering the league in 2011:
March 18, 2012 – Andrew Ladd Bobblehead night:
The Hurricanes came in to Winnipeg for the second game of a back-to-back and appeared ripe for the taking. The Jets were deep into the playoff hunt and were in “must win” mode. Things were looking good with a 2-1 lead going into the third. However, the crowd chants of “Jordan’s Better” only propelled Eric Staal to score the game tying goal and game winning goal and sunk the Jets playoff hopes. Final score: Hurricanes 3 Jets 2
Andrew Ladd’s stat line: 0 goals, 0 assists, minus 3.
December 14, 2013 – Ondrej Pavelec Bobblehead night:
In a tough game vs. the division rival Dallas Stars, Tyler Seguin and Sergei Gonchar had four points each while Jamie Benn chipped in with two of his own. Pavelec allowed five goals and was pulled for backup Al Montoya. Final Score: Stars 6 Jets 4
Ondrej Pavelec’s stat line: 5 goals allowed, 19 saves on 24 shots, .792 save percentage, one stick smashed into pieces.
March 22, 2014 – Dustin Byfuglien Bobblehead night:
This game was familiar territory for the Jets, a mid-March game against a Carolina team on the second game of a back-to-back. Cam Ward stole the game for the Hurricanes making 36 saves including this save of the year candidate. Winnipeg’s comeback attempt in the third fell short as the slim playoff hopes for Jets fans were finally dashed. Final score: Hurricanes 3 Jets 2
Dustin Byfuglien’s stat line: 0 goals, 0 assists, minus 2.
April 11, 2015 – Blake Wheeler Bobblehead night:
Blake Wheeler was a scratch for the final game at home for the Jets as coach Paul Maurice wanted to rest up his winger in advance of the team’s first playoff appearance since the team returned to Winnipeg.
Blake Wheeler’s stat line: Scratched.
Jets record in bobblehead games: 1-3
