Billeck Report: Winnipeg Jets Mason Appleton needs surgery (out at least 8 weeks)

Latest news on number 22.

The Jets lost Mason Appleton in the game on Sunday against his former team the Kraken which Winnipeg ultimately won in OT. With the team off on Monday the earliest time for an update was yesterday but oddly nobody asked about him during the media availability. Next opportunity would be today but ahead of practice Scott Billeck of the Winnipeg Sun broke the news as follows:

“I’m hearing that the upper-body injury that Mason Appleton sustained in Winnipeg’s 3-2 OT win in Seattle on Sunday is going to keep him out for quite a while. Sounds like he will need surgery, which he will have today. Told he will be out for at least eight weeks.”

This has been subsequently been updated by Scott during the media availability with Jets head coach Rick Bowness to:

“Wrist surgery. 8-12 weeks”.

Appleton has played up and down the lineup in his 14 games with Winnipeg this season. He has one goal and five assists for six points.
