Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news.

Note:  Second last home game goes this evening as Andrew Ladd and his Blackhawk teammates journey to Winnipeg for the second time since the trade that saw the former Jets captain head to the windy city.  Be sure to keep it locked here for the latest Jets news. As soon as illegalcurve.com is updated we will also notify you via Twitter | Facebook | Instagram.

Note II:  Chase De Leo has re-joined his fellow Moose players in Iowa as looks to keep it rolling in the Hawkeye State.  Puck drops at 7 pm.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Scheifele’s star rising.  (Paywall).  Really have to wonder what his numbers would have been had he been healthy the entire season.  Regardless 55 is going to get paid this summer.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Payback time for Maurice.  (Paywall).  There appears to be an assumption that coach Maurice isn’t making the decisions that Scott disagrees with.  I don’t know whether he does or doesn’t but I hesitate to make assumptions.

Winnipeg Sun:  UFA Brandon Tanev chooses Winnipeg.  Ken writes about why the college free agent should bolster the Winnipeg Jets bottom-six.  Apparently Tanev didn’t get the memo that folks don’t choose Winnipeg.

Winnipeg Sun:  Not a dry eye at MTS Centre after Kroppy’s return.  It was a memorable moment in a season that hasn’t had very many.

CBC:  Jets’ new recovery method gives team competitive advantage, fitness director says.  An interesting concept but a fairly superficial explanation which makes sense since the team will not be sharing so as to maintain the desired competitive advantage.

Jets audio:

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Hustler and Lawless.  TSN Hockey analyst Marty Biron joins the guys to discuss the Winnipeg Jets’ goaltending situation. Biron reviews Connor Hellebuyck’s season, and outlines how he’d use Ondrej Pavelec.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Hustler and Lawless.  Josh Morrissey joins the guys after being named as the team’s AHL Man of the Year for his work in the community. Morrissey discusses being sent down to the Moose from the Winnipeg Jets, the direction the organization is going, and his charitable efforts.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  The Rona Roundtable.  Tim Wharnsby discusses what the newest Winnipeg Jet Brandon Tanev can bring to the organization.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  The Big Show.  ESPN’s Craig Custance joined the guys for some NHL talk including which teams are most hurt by no-movement clauses and why the Winnipeg Jets and Edmonton Oilers are listed as the least desirable locations by NHL agents plus what the two teams can do to change that reputation.

Moose news:

Illegal Curve:  Josh Morrissey named Manitoba’s IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year.  Really hard pressed to think of someone more deserving of this nomination.  Read more about the 2013 top pick for Winnipeg.

Prospect news:

Illegal Curve:  Kyle Connor is a Hobey Baker Hat Trick Finalist.  And then there were just three.
