Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets news.

Note:  Jets left Winnipeg with two points in the bank (despite allowing the Preds to escape with a single point) for a date tonight with the Wild in St. Paul.  This is the only road game for quite some time as the Jets will then play the next six games at the MTS Centre.

Note II:  The Moose travel today to North Carolina as they get ready for their first two games of this eight game, two week road trip.  It begins against the Charolotte Checkers on Saturday night at Bojangles’ Coliseum (as aside is that the best name of an arena ever?) at 7 pm.

Jets news:

Fox Sports:  Wheeler’s words may mean more than he believes.  Have to agree with the author of this piece as while Wheeler may not have intended his words to have an impact it is pretty clear that it sent a message to this team.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets show gusto in OT win.  (Paywall).  While the coach and Wheeler both tried to downplay the impact of his comments to the media the past few days, fans sure weren’t surprised to see which player gave the team the much needed game winning goal in OT.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Ladd-Byfuglien dilemma Chevy’s defining moment.  (Paywall).  Dilemma seems to be a perfectly suitable choice of word.  So many options.

NHL.com:  Jets blow lead, defeat Predators on Wheeler’s OT goal.  Seeing the Predators score with under 15 seconds to go in 3rd and erase a three goal deficit made a loud MTS Centre completely silent.  Fans had a chance to rejoice a minute into OT but still giving up that extra point to a team you are chasing is never a good thing.

CBC:  Emotions are high, wolves are at bay.  Plenty to read in this assessment by Adam.

MyToba:  Byfuglien hurt after pacing Jets to win over Preds.  Jets fans were elated with the play of #33 who was a beast in the 2nd period and had been a force all evening long.  Unfortunately for both the fans and the team an awkward fall in the 3rd period saw Byfuglien head to the room and along with him went the Jets lead.  Of course the team managed to win in OT and coach Maurice post game said that Byfuglien would be traveling to St. Paul so it isn’t all bad news…potentially.
