Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Getting it done with D. While that is an important step in this team building an identity they also do need to be able to put the puck in the back of the oppositions net.
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets are golden in goal. Goaltending depth in the organization has certainly increased the past few seasons.
Winnipeg Sun: Fingers crossed for Scheifele. Paul pens this piece on what the loss of the Jets centre could mean for this team.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets look to avenge shootout loss to Devils. Ken gets you set up for tonight’s game with plenty of Manitoba connections on the Devils.
Sportsnet: Tough schedule may have hurt Scheifele. Something has to be done to improve the powerless power play.
ESPN: NHL coaches rankings. They asked a panel of their experts (24 in total I believe) to rank each coach on a scale of 0 to 10 based on how they think he will perform this season. The Jets bench boss didn’t rate particularly high.
Illegal Curve: Does playing for the Winnipeg Jets offer players a tax break? A study came out yesterday that showed Winnipeg was a favourable spot with respect to the taxes a player would pay. Interesting the tax rate in our jurisdiction didn’t change but Winnipeg jumped from 27th in 2012 to 12th in 2014.
TSN 1290 Winnipeg: Rona Roundtable (audio). Shane Hnidy joined Rick and said that he came away impressed with the heart and character that the Jets showed when they battled back from 3-0 deficit versus the Wild.
TSN 1290 Winnipeg: Rona Roundtable (audio). Former player agent and assistant GM Bill Watters joined Rick to discuss the Jets’ scoring issues.
Devils news:
The Star-Ledger: Devils’ Cory Schneider set to tie a Martin Brodeur record. The former Manitoba Moose goalie has sure taken hold of that position with the Devils as he is about to start in his 19th straight game.
