Afternoon Delight: Decisions

  • Ken Campbell looks at some tough decisions that have to be made around the NHL.
  • Doug Gilmour has been named head coach of the Kingston Frontenacs of the OHL. Looks like Gilmour wanted into the OHL in the worst way. He first tried to buy into the Oshawa Generals, and has now secured a gig coaching his home town team.
  • Should players take their helmets off for the shootout? It might be a good way to connect with the fans. However, they should make Dion Phaneuf wear a full facemask so as to not scare the kiddies.
  • Some college hockey rankings from INCH and USCHO. Minnesota at the top despite blowing a lead to Michigan Tech on Friday.
  • Its a few days old now, but take a look at Kelly Hrudey’s blog detailing the story of the Kelowna Packers, the first Canadian team to play those God-less Commies (The Russians, not Democrats). Kind of an interesting story, and one that not many people are aware of.
  • 5 Things from Scott Burnside.
  • Who Goes First: Keenan or MacTavish? I think both guys will be around at the end of the season. The fans, however, seem to be up in arms.
  • Potential 2009 1st pick overall Victor Hedman is out 2-3 weeks with a shoulder injury. I wonder if this will affect his draft ranking, or if Tavares will seize the opportunity?
