Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

SportingNews:  Alex Kovalev, Nikolay Zherdev both say they turned down NHL offers in favor of KHL.  Wonder if it’s true that Zherdev actually received an offer from the Jets.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Ex-Moose Roy joins Jets front office.  Another nice move by True North.  He practically defined the Moose and should be excellent in his new role for the Jets.

Estevan Mercury:  Jets – other names need not apply.  Agree that all other names paled in comparison to the beloved Jets.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets becoming very deep in depth.  Our 1st round choice seems to be quite a mature kid, who will hopefully continue to develop this season.  (good video below of Scheifele being interviewed).

National Post:  Will the Winnipeg Jets win Manitoba for the NDP?  You would like to think people base a vote on the economy or the state of healthcare but perhaps the return of the Jets will be enough to put the NDP over the top!

IceCaps News:

CBC:  Jason King ‘excited’ with IceCaps homecoming.  Has a very good attitude which will be of benefit to the AHL squad.

“I’m excited to get my game back to where I know it can be and it should be, and wherever that leads, I’m excited to see,” King told CBC News.

More AHL affiliate news as well as news from ‘Around the NHL’ including Sean Avery’s arrest for battery of a police officer and Luke Schenn has plenty of time to sign with the Leafs after the jump.

The Telegram:  Homecoming King.  With all the solid moves the Jets have made for their AHL squad, I will be very interested to see how these guys play next season.

Winnipeg Sun:  IceCaps get their King.  A good signing by the Baby Jets.

Around the NHL:

USA Today:  NHL bad boy Sean Avery arrested in Hollywood.  This is what happens when hockey players get all “Hollywood”.

Toronto Star:  Scheen sees ‘lots of time’ to sign extension with Leafs.   A signing that the Leafs need to get done.
