Saturday, July 16 Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Toronto Sun:  Reimer relishes NHL return to ‘Peg.  What will be especially nice for the Leafs goalie is with the Jets in the East, he will get to play in front of the hometown crowd a couple of times next season.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Noel welcomes 3 helpers aboard.  This seems to be a pretty capable crew the Jets are putting together.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets assistants glad they’re back North.   Not surprising that guys want to play in-front of a passionate fan base and that’s what hockey in Winnipeg will be for years to come.

Winnipeg Sun:  Noel keeping Keane in mix for assistant spot.  I could see the Jets starting him in a player development role before making him a full assistant coach.

Around the NHL:

ESPN:  Florida Panthers sign 2010 1st round pick  to entry level deal.   The Panthers will be the most radically different team in terms of personnel next season.  Will this translate to on-ice success?

Edmonton Journal:  Oilers too lovable for their own good.  People seem to root against winners, and the Oilers haven’t been that for quite some time.  Of course when the Jets switch back to the West and as these two teams develop from basement dwellers to teams competing in the playoffs, expect the hate factor to increase significantly.  Just because we hired Huddy, doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten the 80’s.

Charlotte Observer:  Canes owner preparing for new investors.  Seems like a pretty good owner, interested in helping to get Carolina into a better position both on the ice and off it as well.
