Note: The Jets continue to search for answers as their losing streak reached eight games (0-6-2) following a 5-2 loss to the Panthers in Florida. Kyle Connor scored his 11th of the season while Morgan Barron picked up his first, but Winnipeg’s special teams struggles continued as they surrendered two more power play goals. The loss leaves the Jets winless through the first two games of their critical four-game road trip and searching for a way to stop their slide down the Western Conference standings. They are off today following back-to-back games.
Note II: The Moose wrapped up their six-game road trip in historic fashion with a 6-3 victory over the IceHogs in Rockford. Manitoba scored four shorthanded goals, matching an AHL record and becoming the first team to accomplish the feat since 1988. Brayden Yager scored his seventh goal in just 10 games while Danny Zhilkin, Davis Burnside and Chase Yoder each recorded multi-point outings. The Moose finished their road trip with a 3-3-0-0 record and improved to 8-4-0-0 overall, tied for first in the AHL while leading the league with 47 goals. They travel back to Manitoba today and are off tomorrow.
Note III: A busy couple of days for Jets prospects began Thursday with Edison Engle (2025 6th) scoring his first NCAA goal for Western Michigan, assisted by fellow Winnipeg prospect Zach Nehring (2023 3rd). On Friday, Owen Martin (2025 3rd) scored his ninth goal in nine games for Spokane, putting him in a tie for eighth in the WHL despite missing time with an ankle injury. Zach Wooten (2026 4th) scored his first NCAA game-winning goal for Wisconsin, giving him four points (2G, 2A) in four games, while Markus Loponen (2024 5th) netted his second goal of the season for Lake Superior State.
